Collaborative Ministry Teams

Teamwork was the theme of Fr Charles’s address to the people who attended the St Wilfrid’s Annual General Meeting. He linked this with his desire to introduce Collaborative Ministry (CM) in to the Group. I am sure Charles will develop and explain what he means by CM but I would like to offer my support and thoughts on the team working concept.

We are all equal in God’s eyes but we all have different gifts. The secret is for people to identify their strength zone. We all have talent and God wants us to develop it! But we can only develop the talent we have, not the one we want. Dr John Maxwell, a leadership expert, believes that people can only increase their ability in an area by 2 points on a scale of 1 – 10. For example , if your natural talent in an area is 4, with hard work you could raise it to 6. In other words you can go from a little below average to a little above average. But lets say you find a place where you are seven; you have the potential to become a nine, maybe even a ten, if its your strength zone and you work hard. This can make you an exceptionally effective person in the life of the church.

I am sure Charles will be asking people to consider joining the teams that are currently in place and the new ones that will evolve. Age is not an issue here. No one is too old, you just need a desire and willingness to help spread God’s message in one of the many ways possible in our church. Christianity is not a passive thing. We need to get out there and show what being a Christian means, and show proudly that we are different and worth joining.

Can we work with you to identify your strength zone and put it to use for the benefit of God and the church? Have a word with Fr Charles or Rev’d Wilma, or contact me via the editor link on the website and I will sort it out.
