G 2 G

The October G2G event was attended by a gathering of 50 adults and 15 children. The theme was Heroes and Saints.

Some of the attenders (the brave or foolish?) dressed up as their hero and Fr Charles in his role as James Bond was an impressive sight. David Attenborough, Robin Hood, Cat Woman and a ballerina, and many others were in our Parade of Heroes but Batman in his full crime fighting outfit pushed credibility too far.

Rob McCarthy, assisted by Ian Lithgow led the singing and worship, and Bob Barrett did some wonderful work in projecting images. Fran Carruthers read the bible passage, and there was the traditional super spread of food.

Attenders were asked to give their written comments on the evening and there was some excellent feedback including one person who "loved it all" and others who loved the informality, music, food, fun, fellowship and the Christian message.

G2G is in it's early stages but those who attend have really enjoyed it and received a Christian message, so we are on the right tracks but there is still lots to be done.

Our Aims

  • We will have a lay-led gathering, at least monthly, eventually building our attendance up to 100 - 150 worshipers who will enthusiastically attend.
  • This gathering will be informal and every age group will feel comfortable.
  • We will spread the Christian Gospel in an interesting and imaginative way and develop fellowship by eating together and creating a loving environment where people will find it a great joy to attend.
  • As we develop this fellowship we will reach out to the community by a variety of means only restricted by our imagination.
