Members of the Mothers Club raised £1,500 last year for good causes locally.
They gave £500 to the Radio Lincolnshire Go for Gold Appeal and presented cheques to nine other local organizations and good causes at their meeting on March 5th:
Chairman Janet Taylor explained, “The Mothers’ Club started in 1964 – when we were all mothers with young children. We still enjoy meeting and having a good time as a group, but in the last few years we’ve been able to focus more on fundraising. Last year was an exceptional year and we are very pleased to be able to give so much back to the community.” We asked secretary Sheila Robinson how much money the Mothers’ Club has raised in recent years. “We have given £4,950 to charities and good causes since 2000,” she replied, “and this does not include fees to speakers which were then donated to a charity of the speaker’s choice.” A new Evan Cornish Hospice shop opened at 44 High Street, Mablethorpe, on March 16th.
