Alford Group of Parishes

Holy Communion / Eucharist

We hold regular Eucharistic services. If you do not wish to receive the bread and wine you will always be welcome to come forward for a blessing. There are two styles to choose from:

Most of our services follow the modern Church of England liturgy called Common Worship, introduced in 2001. The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) is the long-established Church of England service in traditional language.

Morning & Evening Prayer, Mattins, Evensong

These services include hymns, Bible readings, a short sermon, and prayers. They may be led by a priest or a lay minister. There are two styles to choose from:

Most of our services follow the modern Church of England liturgy called Common Worship, introduced in 2001. The BCP is the long-established Church of England service in traditional language. Mattins is simply Morning Prayer using the BCP, and Evensong is Evening Prayer using the BCP.

Worship@10

On the first Sunday of the month at St Wilfrid's Church (Alford) we have "Worship@10". This is more informal than our usual service, intended for all ages. We enjoy seeing the Boys' and Girls' Brigades at this service, and singing with a small worship band.

Healing Service

The Healing Service is held on the first Wednesday in the month at 7pm in the relaxed atmosphere of the St Lawrence Chapel in St Wilfrid's Church. All are welcomed to pray for healing (for yourself or loved ones) through the laying on of hands and anointing with oil.

in the surrounding villages

In addition to Alford, we hold services in the village churches of Beesby, Bilsby, Farlesthorpe, Hannah, Markby, Rigsby, Saleby, Ulceby, Well and Willoughby. Some meet more than once a month, some hold services only for festivals, but all are available for weddings, christenings and funerals.

If you wish to enquire about having a wedding or christening in one of our churches, please contact the Parish Office by email or on 01507 464855.
